Raiden Buffington

Raiden Buffington, a cherished son, brother, and friend, departed this life on February 8, 2025, in Benkelman, Nebraska. Born on October 19, 2007, to Michael and Rayetta Buffington in Toledo, Ohio, he spent his formative years in the vibrant city of Toledo until moving to Nebraska to attend Dundy County Stratton High School in Benkelman, where he continued his education until his recent passing.

Raiden was known for his remarkable dedication to his various jobs. He worked at Dollar General in Benkelman, then as a cook at the Café in Haigler before recently starting a job as a housekeeper at Dundy County Hospital, where he approached all his work with commitment and care. Raiden truly was a hard worker and loved helping people when he could. His proudest accomplishment was being an active member of the BYRD Youth Group at Church, a testament to his spirit of community and engagement.

In his leisure time, Raiden found joy in a myriad of hobbies that included a passion for cars and driving, playing video games, and enjoying the exhilarating stories portrayed in the Fast and Furious movie series. He had a profound love for music, which complemented his vibrant personality and brought joy to those around him.

Raiden is survived by his loving parents and his brothers, Michael, Jaxson, and Christopher Shirk, along with his sister Isabella Schrieber. He also leaves behind close friends Jacob Fanning, Bryson Smith, and Blake Nickerson, who will fondly remember the moments they shared.

He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Gayle Szymanski, and grandfather, Jack Buffington. The memories of Raiden's warm spirit and infectious laughter will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His presence will be sorely missed.

A Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 13 at Grace Methodist Church in Benkelman with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating.
