Rolland L. Fortkamp left this world to join his Savior on November 20, 2024 at McCook Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Rolland was born on June 15, 1930 on the family farm on the south divide of Wauneta, Nebraska to John and Anna (Frerichs) Fortkamp. He grew up on the family farm with his brother, Donald. He was married to Betty Younger and to this union 2 sons, Jimmy Dale and Allen Dee were born.
Rolland spent most of his working life in his machine shop fixing the neighbor’s equipment and making bumpers for pickups that he sold to dealerships and locally. He also farmed with his dad and son, Jim. He enjoyed “jamming” with his Aunt, Violet Long and Uncle Martin Fortkamp with him playing the acoustic and electric guitars. He fondly remembers having his “favorite” niece, Tina; sit on his lap while he and Betty played cards with his brother, Don and his wife, Lela.
Rolland was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was an Elder of the Church for many years.
Rolland was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna; an infant son, Allen Dee; his wife, Betty; and sister-in-law, Lela Fortkamp.
