Ron (Slim) Berry
Ronald Gene Berry was born January 25, 1948, in Imperial, Nebraska to Orlando W. (Buck) and Hazel (Denny) Berry. He attended school at District #66 in Chase County, then Chase County High School, where he graduated in 1966. Slim as, he was affectionately known, assisted on the family farm until gaining employment with the Nebraska Department of Roads. He worked for the road department for 17 years before his health forced him to retire. Slim enjoyed the out of doors, fishing and hunting, he especially loved to deer hunt. He enjoyed cooking, and spending time with his niece, great-nieces and nephew. Slim was a storm spotter in Western Chase County for 27 years and a member of the Lamar Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie # 3472 and the Southwest Chapter of the Izaak Walton League (Ikes). There he loved to help with the kid’s fishing tournaments. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church, of Imperial. Slim passed away passed away Saturday afternoon, December 18th, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Nebraska. He was 62 years of age.

Funeral Services for Slim Berry will be held Thursday morning, December 23rd, 2010, 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Imperial, with Pastor Fred Andersen officiating. Interment will follow at the Crete Cemetery, Champion, NE.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon, December 22, 2010, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the local Izaak Walton Lodge (Ikes) and the Lamar Nebraska Volunteer Fire Department.
