ROY CUSHING
Roy Ulysses Cushing was born January 13, 1940, on a farm North of Stratton, Nebraska, to George W. and Thelma B. (Wilkinson) Cushing. As a youngster he attended country school to the eighth grade and went on to graduate from Stratton High School in 1957. Roy had many different jobs including working on the railroad, farming, and working as a custodian for Stratton Public Schools. In 1972, he moved to McCook, Nebraska, where he was a fireman and EMT. He also was the Circulation Manager for the McCook Gazette several years.
Roy moved to Imperial, Nebraska, in 1989, and was employed as the service manager for Ford New Holland before his retirement. In recent days, he drove trucks for local farmers in the Imperial area.
Roy passed away Wednesday morning, August 25, 2010, at the Chase County Community Hospital, Imperial, NE. He was 70 years of age.
Roy was a member of the Imperial Eagles Club, an associate member of the VFW. He loved to hunt and fish, having many Master Angler Awards, and growing huge gardens. He loved photography and his dog “Three” who was his constant companion.

He is survived by three sons: George Cushing of Americus, KS John Cushing of Emporia, KS Jeff Cushing and wife, Mary Jo, of Americus, KS

A public wake was held at the Eagles Club of Imperial, Tuesday, August 31, 2010, starting at 5:00 P.M.
