Ruth Colard
Ruth Ellen Colard was born September 8, 1919 in Denver, Colorado to James and Clara Gallaway. Ruth married Leslie O. Colard on November 13, 1935 in Englewood, Colorado. To this marriage two sons were born, Donald and Steven Colard.
Ruth had a great love for life. She loved oil painting outdoor scenes; she would paint while Leslie fished. She was a member of the Orchid Society in Denver and had many beautiful orchids. Ruth was an avid reader for many years, until her failing eyesight made it difficult. She had two cats, Bootsy and Sassy that she loved very much. She also loved bulldogs. Ruth enjoyed classical music. A highlight of her life was seeing classical violinist Andre Rieu in person.
Ruth moved to Wauneta, Nebraska in 2006. She enjoyed her new home and new friends, but always missed the mountains of Colorado.
Ruth passed away May 6, 2013, at the Sunrise Heights Nursing Home of Wauneta. She was 93 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leslie on May 14th of 1977; son Donald; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Hazel and Mike Wright and Nina and Archie Simpleman; a brother and sister-in- law George and Peggy Marrs.
Survivors Include: Son: Steven and wife, Carol Colard of Clyde, KS.
Two Grandsons: Eric and wife, Nancy Colard of Buena Vista, CO and Bryan Colard of Concordia, KS
Nieces: Ruth and husband, Rodney Petsch of Wauneta Donna Jursch of Buena Vista, CO Jeannie and husband, Peter Scholl of Colorado Springs, CO
Nephews: Thomas and wife, Judy Marrs of Montrose, CO Earnie and wife, Janine Marrs of Dearing, GA Robert and wife, Marie Marrs of New Jersey
Graveside Services and Interment will be held Monday morning, May 13th, 2013, 11:00 A.M. (MT) at Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, with Rev. Paul Mauritz officiating.
Viewing will be held prior to services at the cemetery.
A Memorial has been established to the Wauneta, Nebraska Senior Center.
