Sharon Kay Kluender was born August 12, 1943, to Douglas and Elvira (Wickman) Hammon in Valentine, NE. Sharon grew up and attended school in Valentine, graduating From Valentine High School in 1961. She continued her education by attending college at Colorado State University and graduating from Chadron State College in 1965 with a degree in Secondary Education.
Sharon married Robert W. Kluender on June 12, 1965. They first lived in Paxton, NE for one year, and then moved to Imperial, NE in 1966. They had two daughters, Colleen and Holli.
Sharon taught high school at Paxton High School for one year, before beginning her forty-two year tenure of teaching business at Chase County High School. She was highly devoted as an advisor for FBLA and thoroughly enjoyed putting on the Veteran’s Day Program each year.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving spouse, mother, daughter & sister; Sharon also loved cooking, baking, reading, gardening, traveling, day trips with her friends, dancing, playing cards, spending time with her family, friends, and spoiling her grandkids. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
Sharon went home to Jesus on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the Country House in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was 77 years of age
She is survived by her spouse; Bob Kluender of Imperial, NE, daughters; Colleen Spellman and husband, Todd, of Elmwood, NE, Holli Artz and husband, T.J., of Hickman, NE. grandchildren; Jaxson, Kylar and Coleston Spellman and Kaden, Ryker and Brekkyn Artz, sister, Jeri Ballard of Rapid City, SD, brother; Bob Hammon and wife, Jan, of Pauma Valley, CA, brother in law; Sam Peterson of Lincoln, NE, brothers and sisters in laws; Larry and Jean Kluender, Valentine, NE, Jim and Linda Kluender of Edgemont, SD, and Bill Kluender of Chandler,OK.
Sharon joins parents Doug and Elvira Hammon, Walt and Mary Kluender (parent’s in law), Dick Ballard (brother in law), Connie Peterson (sister), RuthAnn Kluender (sister in law), in Heaven.
Memorial service will be held Monday morning, January 4, 20201, 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Inurnment will follow this summer at Mount Hope Cemetery, Valentine, Nebraska.
Sharon’s wishes were for cremation with no visitation.
A memorial has been suggested to the Kluender Family for a future FBLA Scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior of CCHS.
