Sue J. Eskew

April 17, 1955 — December 7, 2024

Imperial

Susan Jean Eskew (Browning), was born in Imperial, NE on April 17, 1955, to Jack and Donna (Case) Browning. After a short battle with lung cancer, she passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, at the age of 69.

Sue graduated high school in 1973. Sue met the love of her life, Bob Eskew, on a blind date which magically happened to be her senior prom. Sue married Bob at Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial on February 16, 1974. In February of 2024, Bob and Sue celebrated 50 years of loving one another. In 1996, Sue attended North Platte Community college where she obtained a nursing certificate. She then continued to work and dedicate her passion to patients at the Imperial Manor for 31 years.

Throughout her life, Sue loved her kids and grandkids, attending all of their events, reading books, watching movies and shows, playing solitaire on the computer, playing cards (hand and foot), loving on her family and friends, gardening, being in the yard, puzzles, and more. These were only some of the many things Sue enjoyed throughout her long and beautiful life.

During Sue’s last few weeks of life on Earth, she was able to love on her family and hold them tight, she was able to still make everyone around her fill with laughter, she was able to say her last goodbyes, she was able to smile through her pain, she was able to brighten the room with her smile.

Sue was strong and resilient. She was compassionate and loving. She was courageous and forthcoming. She was brave just as much as she was stubborn. She was open-minded and forgiving. Sue cherished her last breaths with the people she admired. She was able to leave this Earth with a placement in one’s heart that could simply never be replaced. Sue was the one some people claimed as home, she was the life that made smiles shine, she had the ability to leave a remarkable impression on anybody. She filled hearts full and loved them greatly.

She is survived by her husband Bob Eskew; daughters Amy (Chad) Leibbrandt of Imperial, NE, Jenn (Ryan) Witzel of Valparaiso, NE; grandchildren Leigh, Jessyca, Carter, Cayden, Addisen, Mikiah, and Cobi; great grandchildren Jaxson, Quinndalynn, and Talia; brother, Steven (Kate) Browning; and sisters Shelley Morse and Stacy (Lynn) Reeder and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents Jack and Donna Browning; daughter Heather; sister Sandy Smith; nephew Wade Smith, niece April Reeder.
