Verna Maxine (Brown) Sandman was born in Denver, CO on March 23rd, 1925 to Bert Brown and Gladys (Horn) Brown and departed this life on October 10th, 2019. Verna graduated from Wauneta Public Schools in 1943. Verna and Jack Sandman were united in marriage on January 18th, 1948 at the Wauneta United Methodist Church. To this marriage 5 children were born: William Lee, Jackie Irene, Janice Ilene, Vicki Sue, and Gregory Ralph.
Verna worked at Jackson’s Clothing Store and on the farm south of Wauneta. Verna was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church and the Wauneta United Methodist Church. She was active in the bowling league as well. Verna enjoyed gardening, canning, and raising her chickens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, daughters Janice Allen and Vicki Grimes, great-grandson, Tanner Allen, her parents, her siblings, Wayne Brown, Wilbur Brown, Dorothy Brown Ingold, Meredith Brown Bonny, and Esther Brown Lippincott.
Surviving Verna are her children Bill (Debbie) Sandman, Jackie (Terry) Dewey, and Greg Sandman and sons-in-law, Doug Allen and Gary Grimes. Verna is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren as well as many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services for Verna Sandman will be at 1:00 P.M. (MT), Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta with Pastor Elias Mukindia officiating. Interment will follow services in the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon, October 15, 2019 for 2:00-6:00 P.M. (MT) at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta.
Memorials are suggested to the Family of Verna Sandman for future designation.
