Vivian Norton
Vivian Delores (Terryberry) Norton was born March 13, 1920, at Cedar Creek, Nebraska near Plattsmouth. As a young girl she attended grade school near Cedar Creek, and graduated from Plattsmouth High School. Vivian married Harlan Edwin Norton on April 2, 1942, in Omaha, NE, where they resided for a short time. The couple then resided in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, several years before moving to a farm west of Imperial. In, 1956, they moved to Imperial and lived there in the original home until the present.
Vivian was employed at the Imperial J.C. Penny Store in the early 1950’s. She was also a long time employee of the Arnison’s Clothing Store. Vivian also worked at the Farmers and Merchants Bank for many years until her retirement in 1982. Vivian was a member of the United Methodist Church of Imperial, sharing the position of Treasurer with Harlan for several years. She was a member of a bowling team and enjoyed informal coffee clubs, and the” Over the Hillers” camping club. She and Harlan were also members of a square dance club when they lived on the farm. Vivian served on the District #66 School Board and was a sewing leader of a 4-H club.
Vivian had many hobbies including; camping, fishing, reading, bird watching, raising pretty flowers, and being a very good seamstress. Vivian made many pretty outfits for herself and her daughter in the fifties, sixties, and seventies. She and Harlan were snowbirds, taking their camper to Arizona in the wintertime, and enjoying many trips with the “Over the Hillers”. Vivian greatest joy however, was her family, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Vivian Norton, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 16th, 2015, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial, Nebraska. She was 95 years of age.
Survivors include:
Daughter, Linda Bussell and husband, Delbert of Imperial.
2 Grandsons: Scott Bussell and wife, Trevia of Imperial and Brent Bussell of Imperial
4 great-grandchildren: Justin Bussell, Kylee Bussell DeWester, Ashlin Bussell, and
Jadin Bussell.
3 Great-Great Grandsons: Zaiden Taylor, Cale DeWester, and Cason DeWester
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Harlan, son; Larry Alan, great grandson, Dustin Michael Bussell, and brother; Daniel (Bud) Terryberry Jr.
Funeral Services for Vivian Norton will be 10:30 A.M., Monday morning, December 21st, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church of Imperial with Pastor Dirk Weiss officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
Visitation will be held at the church, prior to services, same day as services.
Memorials have been established to the Lied Imperial Public Library and the Imperial Community Center.
