Vonna attended grade school at the Eden Country School, and graduated from Stratton High School in 1946. After graduation, Vonna, continued her education at the Barnes Business School in Denver, Colorado.

Vonna married Seth D. Ragan on May 23, 1948, at the home of her parents north of Stratton. Seth was in the military and Vonna became a military wife and a year later they started their family. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. Vonna taught several Bible classes including a lady’s Bible study with assignments. She also developed a Bible Alphabet Train to teach the Bible to children. Vonna caught the genealogy bug in the later years and did lots of research and produced several genealogical catalogs.
