Wesley Walter White was born March 16, 1938, in Bath, New York, to Francis A. (Sunderlin) and Dale Hewitt White, Sr. Wes grew up and attended school in New York and as a teenager traveled to Colorado where he continued his education, graduating from Evergreen High School with the class of 1957. Wes served in the Army National Guard from March of 1955 to March of 1958 and was honorably discharged.
On June 8, 1957, Wes married Sharil May Hayden in Evergreen, Colorado. The couple settled in West Field, Pennsylvania, where they lived for a short time before moving back to Colorado. Wes and Sharil moved to the Pacific Northwest where they resided until 1993. In 1993 they began a career in long-haul trucking, owning their own semi until 2006. Wes also transported gold miners while residing in Nevada from 2006 to 2010. In 2010 the couple moved to Nebraska, living in Holbrook, Benkelman, and lastly they made Stratton their home.
Wes enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, cribbage, repair and handyman work. He also loved camping, hunting and traveling.
Wes passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Dundy County Hospital, Benkelman. He was 83 years of age.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dale White, Jr.; and daughter, Tammy (White) Richardson.
Survivors include:
Wife of 64 years: Sharil of Stratton, NE.
Daughter: Roberta Cross and husband Steve of Ecuador.
Son: Karl White and wife Huyen of Wiley, TX.
Son: Lanny White and wife Shaunette of Bend, OR.
Grandchildren: Wesley Gagnier, Marcella Wagner, Randy Richardson, Kevin Richardson, Tyler Creswick, Drew White, Dylan White, Breanna White, Jasmine White, Layla White, Orion White and Jonathon White.
Great-grandchildren: Abigale, Zoey, Zaden and Avery.
Brothers and Sisters: Loyd White and wife Jaymie of Cambridge, NE, Loreen Cox and husband Ed of Grand Junction, CO, Beverly Martin Worthin, SD, Janet Rosen and husband Ted of Hurley, SD, and Carl Cooper and wife Lynn of Rush Ford, NY.
Memorial services will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, 10:00 A.M. (CT) at the Christian Union Church of Stratton, Nebraska, with Pastor Larry Unruh and Rev. Michael Clements officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
No Visitation, Wesley chose cremation.
