William Jeffries
William (Bill) Jeffries was born October 7, 1923, to Willis and Minnie (Lockett) Jeffries of Hamlet, Nebraska. Bill graduated high school in Hamlet, Nebraska. He then joined the Army Air Corp where he was a tail gunner until the end of the European Campaign of World War II. Bill received the Purple Heart medal.
Bill was married to Gladys Bischoff on May 8th, 1946, and two children were born to this union: Danny and Kathryn. He sold feed and seed for many years and was also the Veterans’ Service Officer for Chase County.
Bill passed away Sunday evening, May 22, 2011, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home. He was 87 years of age.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, one older brother Bunny, three sisters Louise, Helena and Jerry. Survivors Include: Son: Danny of Wauneta, NE Daughter: Kathryn Crabbs and husband William of Littleton, CO. Sister: Nellie Rose Bishop and husband, John, of Gilbert, AZ 5 Grandchildren: Frank Jeffries, Jessie Jeffries, Bonnie Tiller and husband Jeremy, Willis Crabbs, and Josephine Crabbs. 5 Great-Grandchildren: Tanaya, Declan, Falen, Lucian and Lilah. Brother-In-Laws: Dale Bischoff of Wauneta, NE, and Clifford Shackelford Numerous Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
Memorial Services for Bill Jeffries will be held Friday morning, May 27, 2011, 10:30 A.M. (MT) at the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wauneta with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating.
No Visitation, Bill Chose Cremation
Private Family inurnment at Riverside Cemetery will occur before services.
A memorial has been established to the Wauneta American Legion Post # 304
