William Johnson
William “Bill” A. Johnson was born on January 24, 1931 in Imperial, NE to Albert O. and Tillie (Forden) Johnson. As a young man he assisted on the family farm and attended country school where he completed the 8th grade.
For several years he was employed as a truck driver in California delivering steel to companies in that area. He returned to Imperial, NE in the early 1990’s, living on a farm outside of Champion near the home place where he grew up. Bill enjoyed his farm animals, especially horses and cattle in the pasture.
Bill was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, confirmed on June 13th, 1943. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Bill passed away Monday, February 16th, 2015 at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial. He was 84 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Ed and Frank, six sisters: Annie Schilke, Minnie Zech, Winnie Edwards, Grace Cahow, Mary Johnson and Tena Huls, and three wives: Betty L. (Thompson), Rosemary (Harris) and Joyce (Peterson).
Survivors include his sister, Emma McAllister, one brother-in-law, Harm Huls, both of Beatrice, NE, eight stepchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held Friday morning, February 20th, 2015, 10:30 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
Visitation was held Thursday afternoon, February 19th, 2015, 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial.
