William J. Sharp was born May 31, 1928, in Clarion, Iowa, to Georgia (Stewart) and Earnest Sharp. Bill graduated from Clarion High School. In September of 1946, Bill was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in the Occupation of Japan. Bill was honorably discharged in January of 1948 and continued his education at the Denver Business College.

On December 3, 1950, Bill married June Marie Genevieve Curtis at the United Methodist Church in Imperial, Nebraska. The couple settled in the Denver area where Bill was employed as a financial engineer at Rocky Flats and raised their four daughters. After retirement, Bill and June made Imperial their home, enjoying friends and family for the last 30 years.

Bill was a member of the Lied Imperial Public Library Board, director of the Senior Center and a GED tutor. He enjoyed gardening, reading, singing and acting in the local theater. He also led worship at the nursing home, loved to discuss politics and history, and followed his favorite sports teams (Broncos and Rockies).
