Harchelroad
Wilva Delores Harchelroad (nee Richards) passed away July 3, 2018, in Wauneta, Nebraska, at the age of 89.
Wilva was born June 22, 1929, in Stratton, Nebraska, to Clarence and Ora Richards. Wilva, also known as Willie, was one of seven daughters. She was educated in Stratton, graduating from Stratton High School, in 1946. After graduation, she worked at a medical clinic in Stratton. She also worked as an executive secretary for the project manager for the Trenton Dam construction.
Wilva married Gene B. Harchelroad on October 7, 1950, in Stratton, Nebraska. During Gene’s Army basic training in Manhattan, Kansas, she worked as a secretary at Kansas State College. After Gene’s Army service, they settled in Wauneta.
Wilva was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wauneta and belonged to the Methodist Women’s Auxiliary. She especially loved singing in the church choir.
Wilva had the good fortune to share the joy of traveling with Gene, to such places as Hawaii, China, and Europe.
Survivors include daughter Debra Kemp (James) of St. Louis MO; son Brian (Michelle) of Wauneta; daughter-in-law: Carol Harchelroad of Imperial; Grandchildren; Dillon, Danielle, Dustin, Amanda, Philip, Patrick, Dawnta, Sydnee, and Dalton. Great-Grandchildren; Hudson, Beau, Norah, Asher, Avery, Andy, Shane, Tatum and Rose. Sisters: Shirley Hudson (Neal), Donna Jesch (Bud), Eula Carroll (Bill deceased), Dorothy Birks (Keith) and Beverly Dailey (Neal). Sister-in-law: Sandra Williamson (Bill deceased), and former daughter-in-law: Renea Hill.
Wilva was preceded in death by husband, Gene, son; Sidney, and Sister Vivian Pierce (Rich deceased)
Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning, July 14, 2018, 10:30 A.M. (Mountain Time) at the First United Methodist Church of Wauneta, Nebraska, with Pastor Elias Mukindia and Rev. Kevin Fink officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Nebraska.
The family will be greeting the public at visitation on Friday, July 13th, 2018, 5-7:30 P.M. (Mountain Time) at the funeral home in Wauneta.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been suggested in Wilva’s memory to the Wauneta Community Foundation Fund.
